Before you started your Life Changing Fitness plan, how did you feel about yourself and your body?
Although I had already lost 42 kg and was fitter than I had even been I was still fat and unhappy with my appearance.
Why did you want to change your appearance?
I have been overweight or obese since I was a teenager, I have never been happy with the way I look and a lack of confidence has held me back in life.
I kept telling myself that one day I would change but instead of trying I sought solace in alcohol and junk food, locked in an endless cycle of drowning my sorrows.
At the beginning of 2012 I decided that I would lose weight, get fit and start enjoying life and I would never give up no matter how hard it was.
What did you expect from the plan before you started?
I wasn’t sure what to expect, it was a little scary committing to a food plan – only eating food that was on the plan and not drinking alcohol.
How has working with Life Changing Fitness changed your life?
I always knew that it wouldn’t be a case of just getting a 12 week plan to get fit, more a case of adjusting my lifestyle but it has been a lot more difficult than I could have imagined I’ve had a lot of setbacks such as discovering I have had a misaligned pelvis since childhood and struggling with binge eating which has been a lifelong problem.
The reason I chose Dan was I had seen him on the cover of Men’s Fitness in September 2012, seeing the article gave me hope, Dan had been as heavy as me and has an amazing body.
Dan has helped me identify the many reasons for my unhealthy relationship with food, working on the psychological aspects of losing weight.
Did you find the support from Life Changing Fitness helped with your success?
Emailing Dan after binging always made me nervous, but the response was always positive, instead of being told to ‘Man up!’ or ‘I can’t help you if you don’t stick to the plan!’ he asked why I hadn’t called so he could have helped! Dan then helped analyse the circumstances that led to the binging.
Dan always looks for ways in which he can help you reach your goals, at one point he even spoke to the local medical centre to make sure they had given me the correct blood test, I couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated coach.
