BEFORE YOU STARTED YOUR LIFE CHANGING FITNESS PLAN, HOW DID YOU FEEL ABOUT YOURSELF AND YOUR BODY?
During my first plan with Life Changing Fitness I was dreading the day I finished my 12-week plan, as I knew it was time to go it alone and follow what I had learnt during the process – and I had learnt a lot. Three weeks after my LCF plan had ended I realised I was the type of person who loves a challenge, and my aim was to start packing on some muscle between September and Christmas. But being naïve I started looking at different coach’s websites. I bought a plan from another coach, who I won’t name, and straight away I knew that it was just another generic plan, and immediately wished I had contacted Dan.
WHY DID YOU WANT TO CHANGE YOUR APPEARANCE?
Christmas was soon approaching and I was desperate to have a goal. I was gaining weight again, as you do at that time of year, and I was nowhere near my transformation. Then I remembered Dan saying when I finished my first plan that I needed the right mentality to do competition prep – that was when I contacted Dan and Life Changing Fitness again to see if he would prep me. Within a day, Dan said he would love to do it and we arranged a call to discuss the process. Like I said, I love a challenge and I need a goal and competition prep seemed like the perfect goal for 2014. After Dan warned me of the physical and most importantly the mentality of doing this sort of prep, I was even more eager to do so.
WHAT DID YOU EXPECT FROM THE PLAN BEFORE YOU STARTED?
I knew what to expect after already doing one plan with Life Changing Fitness. During our first conversation, Dan explained the way we were going to move forward. First thing was there was no set date to meet, as I was doing UKBFF and they have dates all year round – so there was no time pressure. Secondly, he explained the diet itself. We were going to do a reverse diet, by increasing my calories week on week until I would begin to store fat and after that the cut would begin.
HOW HAS WORKING WITH LIFE CHANGING FITNESS CHANGED YOUR LIFE?
Working with Life Changing Fitness helped me to achieve my competition prep goal. Through the whole competition I could hear my supporters this made it even more special as they were experiencing the hard work I had put in for nine-months for basically 15 minutes on stage – some will say I’m mental, but I say goal achieved with the help of Life Changing Fitness. When I got called up on stage, I could hear my misses and friends shout for me, then I heard Dan shouting – it was nice to hear that support it gives you a massive boost.
Unfortunately my number never got called but that didn’t shocked me as the three who were called up were in amazing shape and deserved to be there – they had great physiques. I loved the whole experience and can’t wait to hit stage again but this time not physique, I have a good set of wheels and need showing – so watch this space Dan and I are bringing a new package
DID YOU FIND THE SUPPORT FROM LIFE CHANGING FITNESS HELPED WITH YOUR SUCCESS?
Yes, I was supported every step of the way. Dan set me a three-day meal plan and was carb cycling. As the weeks went on my calories went even higher week by week – my high day was 5,400 calories and to be honest it was tough to eat, it felt like I was eating all the time constantly. But the thing that surprised me the most was my measurements and weight, as through nearly the whole of my reverse diet, my weight never went up and my measurements went down until week 11, when my weight crept up and my measurements stayed the same. After this week was done Dan arranged a call and told me the cutting stage was about to commence. When the cut began, my calories were still high and I was still feeling full constantly but as they were coming down I could see my body changing weekly.
I was hitting it hard on every workout and still felt really good on my prep and generally felt cocky and thought “what is the fuss with this comp prep? It’s easy”. As the weeks went on and during this time I met up with Dan had a good leg session and talked about a date and we decided I would be ready for the UKBFF Midlands Championship on September 9, 2014, this was when I realised shit was getting real. My calories were coming down week on week and cardio was being introduced a bit more.
As the competition came nearer the cardio increased calories went down and this is when I realised that comp prep is exactly what Dan said it would be. Having to mentally ask yourself why you’re doing this and you physically have to drag your ass to the gym or wake up an hour before you usually do to go for a morning LISS workout.
With three weeks to go and Dan arranged for a posing class with Zac Fotheringham. He showed me how to really do it as he’s been there and is qualified so I knew I was in the best of hands. We had a really good session and I learnt a lot from him and it showed me it’s not just about being up there, it’s all about the pose and bringing the best of you. Lastly, would you recommend Life Changing Fitness to anyone else to achieve their goals?
Yes. I would Like to thank Dan as he really is an inspiration to many of us, personally I think he’s the best out there. I don’t say that because he coaches me but I’ve seen first-hand he’s constantly learning – he does what he preaches and through that whole nine months he was there even when he went away. Thank you Dan for just being awesome and thank you to all of LCF for the support you gave me. I can’t wait for the next year as I know I’m in the best of hands and know there’s no better out there.
